South-east Queensland’s festival year has changed shape. Some events that once defined the calendar have been cancelled or paused, while one-day touring festivals and riverside series have grown. This page keeps it simple: festivals with officially announced 2027 dates show them, festivals that usually return but have not yet named dates are marked that way, and anything cancelled or uncertain is said plainly. Status checked on 9 October 2026. Sign up for the free alert and we will tell you when dates, line-ups and ticket sales are announced.
Woodford Folk Festival 2026-27: Brisbane festival guide 2027
Woodford is the region’s long-running summer gathering: six days over New Year on a purpose-built site in the hills north of Brisbane, mixing folk, roots, world music, talks, circus and a large camping village. The 2026-27 festival runs from 27 December to 1 January, closing with the traditional New Year’s Day fire event. Most people camp for several days, though day passes are also sold. Plan transport early — there is no train to the site, and shuttle and parking arrangements are published by the festival closer to the date.
FOREVERAFTER: Brisbane festival guide
FOREVERAFTER is a one-day celebration of Australian dance and electronic music from the 2000s, travelling to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in January 2027. The Brisbane date at Riverstage is led by The Presets, with Cut Copy, Ladyhawke, Bag Raiders, Bang Gang DJs and FUKHED also announced. It runs from late afternoon into the evening, finishing around 10pm, so it fits easily into a summer Saturday. Being in the Botanic Gardens, it is a short walk from the CBD and the QUT Gardens Point ferry terminal.
Laneway Festival Brisbane 2027
Laneway’s 2027 run starts in Sydney on 12 February and reaches Brisbane the next day, at the Brisbane Showgrounds. The national line-up released in September 2026 is headed by Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams, with Slayyyter, ADÉLA, Kim Petras, MUNA, Ninajirachi, Rico Nasty, DIIV and Rachel Chinouriri also on the bill; check the festival’s Brisbane listing for the final city line-up and set times. Bowen Hills station is the practical way in, and the Valley is close for food and drinks afterwards.
Festivals around Brisbane: On the Banks 2027
Launched in March 2026, On the Banks is an open-air concert series presented by QPAC and South Bank on the riverside Cultural Forecourt. Rather than a single festival day, it is a run of separate headline shows. For 2027 our data already lists Leon Bridges on 28 February, Madness on 2 March and Fatboy Slim on 9 and 10 March, and the organisers have said more artists are to come. Tickets go through QTIX. South Brisbane station, Cultural Centre busway and the South Bank ferry stops are all close.
Brisbane Festival 2027
Brisbane Festival is the city’s major arts festival, filling most of September with theatre, music, circus and free outdoor events across the city. The 2026 edition ran from 4 to 26 September with more than 700 performances. It has traditionally opened with Riverfire, the fireworks display over the river. The 2027 program and dates had not been officially released when we checked on 9 October 2026; programs are usually launched in winter, a few months before the festival opens. Many events are free, while ticketed shows go on sale with the program launch.
BIGSOUND 2027: Brisbane festival guide
BIGSOUND is Australia’s best-known music industry conference and new-music showcase, held in Fortitude Valley each September. By day it is panels and networking; by night more than a hundred emerging acts play short sets across the Valley’s venues, and wristband holders can hop between rooms. The 2026 edition, held 1–4 September, marked 25 years in the Valley. Dates for 2027 had not been announced as of 9 October 2026, but the event has kept to the first week of September for many years.
Byron Bay Bluesfest: Brisbane festival guide 2027
For years Bluesfest drew thousands of Queenslanders south over Easter. The 2026 edition, planned for 2–5 April, was cancelled on 13 March 2026, with organisers citing rising costs, international uncertainty and falling ticket demand, and the operating companies subsequently went into liquidation. As of 9 October 2026 we have found no official announcement of a 2027 festival. Queensland fans looking for a similar Easter weekend of roots and blues will need to watch for new announcements. We will update this page only if a confirmed return is announced.
